Ageing P ulati Rep t

Jai Shree Krishna and Jai Jalaram
       Dear Fellow Community Members,
Living longer is a great achievement of modern science – but
it is important that we age and plan well.
The recent Covid-19 pandemic has had a drastic impact on
all our community members – particularly the elderly. We all
experienced rst-hand impact that social distancing and
isolation had on our families. The pandemic also exposed many
key issues such as loneliness, vulnerability, dealing with ill health
and keeping up with modern technology – which became
essential to stay in touch with loved ones during the lockdown.
The Ageing Population (AP) Steering committee was formed
in the previous LCNL term which is continuing with the newly

elected leaders. The committee is looking at many di erent
projects identi ed in the AP report and some of them
       progressing well.
The new AP Steering committee members are:
Chandubhai Rughani (AP Convenor), Yatin Dawada (AP Vice Convenor),
Dinesh Shonchhatra (LCNL President), Meenaben Jasani (AP Secretary),
Ronak Paw (LCNL Secretary), Amratlalbhai Radia (Building Chairperson),
Urmilaben Thakker (Senior Ladies Chairperson), Geetaben Nathwani (Mahila
       Chairperson), Meera Majithia (YLS Chairperson)
The rst dementia event was held on 30th June 2021 with around 500 zoom
sessions. There were several questions received which were responded and
shared with the community via eShot.
The next event Socio-Scienti c approach to Dementia will be on Wednesday
8th September 2021 at DLC with live streaming on zoom. You will nd further
       details in the yer.
Other event in the pipeline is Estates and Inheritance Tax Planning which will
       include
       a) Use of annual allowances b) Residence Nil Rate Band (RNRB) – what
happens c) Trusts and what trust do.
In the meantime, we welcome your comments, suggestions or any concerns you
may have on Ageing Population. Please feel free to email them to ageing@lcnl.org.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Lord Popat for taking the time to
compile AP report, the AP Steering Committee, AP Dementia team led by Prof

Bhik Kotecha and all the subject matter experts helping on di erent initiatives.
