When one article can help parents and children to agree that the parents’
requests and instructions will be accepted by children in most cases, that article

has the key to parents helping children tremendously. Imagine what the whole

book can do to help parents help their children, more?

Article on page 162 of the book, with no heading: The child needs to have one

important thing kind of embedded in their mind that is established for good. The

simple fact that the child needs to understand is as follows: Say at the age of
twelve, the parent says to the child, “How much have you learnt in the last five

years?” “Lots”, the child may answer. “How much do you think you are going to

learn in the next five years?” “Lots”, the child may answer. The parent can explain
that, “After I turned twelve, I spent another forty years living in this world. You

can imagine how much ‘extra’ I have learnt about life in this world. I want to help

you with all this extra knowledge. I am the best friend, carer, as well as supporter
that you are going to get in your lifetime. It is in your interest that you ask me

questions and take my advice, discuss things and find a good route to take

through your life. When I ask you to behave in a particular way or do particular
things, start behaving in that way and do those things that I ask you to do. If you

want to talk with me to explain reasons why you do not want to do that, then

discuss that with me.“

The above talk can be repeated every year until the parent sees that the message

is well understood by the child and that they are making full use of what they
have been told, by asking the parent the right questions.
